We offer our oak tables in four finishes: natural, soaped, walnut and black. Our soaped finish is an almost transparent, water-repellent coating that enhances the soul and character of your pieces, while preserving their natural beauty. Made from pure Marseille soap, this finish is all-natural and chemical-free, offering a safe and eco-friendly option for your home.
The dense grain pattern of this hardwood not only offers tremendous strength, but also makes it highly resistant to wear and tear.
Care instructions
Although our materials are provided with a protective coating, proper care remains essential to enjoy your favourite table, cabinet, or other piece of furniture to the full and for a long time. Our oak furniture is carefully sanded, treated with a sealer/ soaped finish that offers protection against liquids, and finished with a matt lacquer that increases durability without losing its rustic character.
To remove stains caused by food, drinks and other everyday substances, simply clean the surface with a damp cloth and then wipe dry with a dry cloth. Grease stains can be tackled with a mild detergent such as dishwashing liquid. Afterwards, apply a new layer of soap. Avoid using care products that contain abrasives, dyes or waxes, as these can damage the finish. Only Marseille soap offers a safe and eco-friendly option for treating your oak item naturally.
Scratches or wear marks in the lacquer finish of wood are a normal consequence of using a piece of furniture, but are mostly preventable by using coasters and placemats. Scratches and wear can partly be prevented by proper protection (tablecloth, placemat, coasters).
If you want to give your oak furniture a refresh, choose a new coat of matt lacquer especially for furniture or soap your soaped item them with Marseille soap. This strengthens the protection and refreshes the look of the wood.
How to soap your table:
- Dissolve a handful of flakes in warm water and make up to about 1 litre.
- Use a wrung-out cloth or soft sponge and spreadthe liquid over the surface. Leave the layer of soap for a few minutes, then gently remove the remaining foam. Tip: Wipe in the direction of the grain
- You can repeat greasing, after letting it dry for about 15 min.
