Meet Pierre from Artfood,
our first Soulmate with who we are happy to have a conversation.
Pierre is a passionate hospitality curator, with experience in prestigious properties such as the Castle of Laeken. He is currently Quality manager at Artfood, where he focuses on visual creations, partners and project development. For these projects, he likes to work with brands that share the same vision in terms of hospitality, which is reflected in the collaboration with Pomax, where he found a match-made-in-heaven with the leggero tableware.
For those who don't know you, who are you and what do you do?
As a lover of beauty and good food, I studied at the Provincial Hotel School of Citadelle in Namur to discover the most beautiful houses in Belgium. I worked for 5 years as 1st butler at the Castle of Laeken and another 3 years at the Chalet De la Foret (**), ...... After more than 10 years of active employment in the gastronomic space, I took up a position as Quality Manager at Artfood Traiteur. Creating visuals, liaising with the venue and kitchen team and developing projects are now part of my daily routine.
Where does your passion for hospitality come from?
I grew up in a family that organised regular dinner parties. My mother is a great cook, my father a chef and my grandmother a housekeeper. From a young age, I have been immersed in the art of entertaining and hospitality.
What role does food play in your life?
For me, food is about bringing people together and sharing ideas. I love it when people come together to enjoy a gastronomic meal made with quality products and talk about their culinary experience or just about any topic.
Where do you get your inspiration from?
Most of my inspiration comes from my daily life. A walk in the city, a trip abroad, reading.... For me, you don't have to go far to get inspired, just discover or rediscover what is around you.
How did you get to know Pomax? Why are we the ideal soulmate for Artfood?
We met when I was looking for a new tableware in your showroom in Kontich. The brand's identity really appealed to me and I particularly wanted to work with a Belgian partner for greater proximity. Our shared vision of hospitality and our many exchanges in different projects make the Artfood xPomax relationship perfect.
You have chosen Leggero as your favourite ‘soul object’ in the Pomax tableware collection. Why and what attracts you to this design?
For me, Leggero is one of the key pieces of our identity. It is graphic, pure, sensual and raw at the same time. Here, the double texture gives a raw, sensual quality that leaves a long-lasting impression.
What is important to you when choosing/buying new tableware?
Consistency. I don't buy it because it's pretty, but because it fits perfectly with the environment in which I'm going to use it. That's what makes it beautiful in: sobriety, elegance and nothing flashy.
What does the perfect soulful dining experience look like to you?
A home-cooked meal in a cosy atmosphere, with a touch of sophistication in the table setting and choice of produce. Authenticity should be at the heart of the meal.
Is there anything missing within our art de la table collection?
A bread plate that was missing a while back, but came later thanks to the many exchanges we had together.
